There is no single right routine for midlife skin, only the one that suits yours right now. Answer three quick questions, tally your letters, and we will point you to a simple place to start, built around the moisturiser you already love.
Kinis does not make a moisturiser, and that is deliberate. You keep your favourite, and add the serums and boosters that target what your skin needs. Think of this as a gentle steer, not a diagnosis. Go with your first instinct.
Question one: the morning mirror.
When you look in the mirror first thing, what do you notice most?
- A. My skin looks duller or more tired than it used to.
- B. My skin feels dry or tight, sometimes a little unsettled.
- C. My skin looks less firm, and fine lines are more noticeable.
Question two: by mid-afternoon.
How does your skin tend to look or feel later in the day?
- A. Comfortable enough, but flat, as if the glow has gone.
- B. Thirsty. I want to reach for more cream.
- C. Fine, but I notice texture and lines more than I would like.
Question three: what you would love.
If your routine could do one thing for you, what would it be?
- A. Help my skin look brighter and fresher in the mornings.
- B. Help my skin feel comfortable, calm and hydrated.
- C. Help my skin look firmer and smoother.
Mostly A: The Glow Ritual.
Your skin is asking for brightness. The Glow Ritual (£110) brings together Refresh, Radiance, Vitality and Light Touch, for skin that looks dull or tired. A gentle gel cleanse, a vitamin C serum, an antioxidant gel booster that mixes straight into your moisturiser, and a tinted SPF30 to finish. Together they help skin look brighter, fresher and more even.
In the morning, cleanse with Refresh, apply Radiance, then your moisturiser with a little Vitality mixed in, and finish with Light Touch. In the evening, cleanse and use your moisturiser with Vitality. Please note Radiance contains almond oil.
Mostly B: The Comfort Ritual.
Your skin is asking for comfort. The Comfort Ritual (£110) brings together Refresh, Harmony, Nourish and Light Touch, for skin that feels dry, tight or unsettled. Hyaluronic acid, sodium PCA and prebiotics, layered under and mixed into your moisturiser, help skin look and feel hydrated, plumper and calmer.
Morning and evening, cleanse with Refresh and apply Nourish. Then use your moisturiser with a few drops of Harmony mixed in, whenever your skin needs it. Finish every morning with Light Touch.
Mostly C: The Boost Collection.
Your skin is asking for smoothness and bounce. The Boost Collection (£76) is three serums in a gift box: Nourish for hydration, Poise with peptides, and Restore with bakuchiol, a natural retinol alternative. It is designed for firmer, smoother-looking skin.
In the morning, apply Nourish, then Poise, then your moisturiser and SPF. In the evening, use Restore, then your moisturiser. As the collection does not include a cleanser or sunscreen, you may like to add Refresh and Light Touch.
A mix of letters? Start with one product.
If your answers were spread out, or you would rather begin small, choose one product for the concern that matters most today:
- Dullness: Radiance in the morning, or Vitality mixed into your moisturiser.
- Dryness or tightness: Nourish under your moisturiser.
- Skin that feels unsettled: Harmony, a few drops mixed into your moisturiser.
- Loss of firmness: Poise, morning and evening.
- Fine lines and texture: Restore in the evening.
- Puffiness or a tired look: Awaken mixed into your face or eye moisturiser.
- Every morning, whatever your concern: Light Touch SPF30.
Go gently, and give it time.
Introduce one new product at a time, so you can see how your skin responds, and give each one a few weeks. Your answers may change with the seasons, and that is fine: come back and take the quiz again. You can compare all three sets on our Rituals page, find more answers in our FAQs, or get in touch. We are always happy to help you choose.
